While hiking in Idaho’s Owyhee Mountains, two hikers made a heartbreaking discovery: a plastic tote left near the trail containing seven underweight, abandoned puppies. Shocked and concerned for their safety, they carefully removed the puppies from the woods and sought help—but most local shelters were already full.
Eventually, Lake Lowell Animal Rescue, despite limited space, agreed to take them in. The puppies received immediate veterinary care and began to recover. Even though they were nervous at first, their playful personalities quickly started to shine through.
Since the shelter could not accommodate all of them long-term, staff arranged foster homes for the puppies. Thanks to the quick response of rescuers and the caring foster families, all seven puppies were soon safe, healthy, and on their way to a brighter future.
